City elections Tuesday


Voting by absentee ballot will continue through Monday.

Elections for cities in Jefferson County will be held Tuesday, and all qualified electors of the cities can cast votes.

According to Juli Hisel of the Jefferson County Auditor’s Office, the polls in Fairfield will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., but polls in Batavia, Libertyville, Lockridge, Maharishi Vedic City, Packwood and Pleasant Plain will be open from noon to 8 p.m.

The polling places for cities and precincts are:

• Fairfield 1st Ward in the Fairfield High School gym lobby.


• Fairfield 2nd Ward at Lincoln Elementary School.

• Fairfield 3rd Ward at Nazarene Family Center.

• Fairfield 4th Ward at the Jefferson County Courthouse.

• Fairfield 5th Ward at Pence Elementary School.

• Batavia at the Batavia Community Center.

• Libertyville at the Libertyville Community Center.


• Lockridge at the former Lockridge school gym.

• Maharishi Vedic City at Rukmapura Park Hotel.

• Packwood at the Packwood Fire Station.

• Pleasant Plain at the Pleasant Plain Community Center.

Hisel said the polling locatons are accessible to elderly voters and voters with disabilities, but any voter who is physically unable to enter a polling place has the right to vote in his or her vehicle.

Hisel also said any voter may declare upon oath that he or she is blind, has an inability to read or write, or is, by any reason of physical disability other than intoxication, unable to cast a vote without assistance, and may request assistance from a precinct election official or anyone in the polling place except his or her employer, employer’s agent or an officer or agent of his or her union.

Hand-counted paper ballots will be used in the election. , according to Hisel.
